Monstera deliciosa - swiss cheese plants make wonderful statement plants for the home and once it gets going it can be truly impressive with large, glossy heart shaped leaves which as the plant matures have the distinctive perforated and deeply cut leaves.
A native plant to the tropical rainforests of Southern Mexico and Panama. This plant enjoys warm and humid conditions.

Light conditions:indirect, medium bright light Neediness: Monsteras need plenty of space and would benefit from support as they grow larger. Regularly rotating the plant will ensure even growth. Leaves need occasional dusting with a damp cloth to help keep the pores clear and allow the plant to breathe. Watering: ensure that the soil is kept consistently damp but not soggy. If planted in a pot with no drainage holes, mist weekly. Ideal location: bedrooms, living rooms and studies Rate of growth: this plant can grow up to 20m in the right conditions. If growth is excessive new growth can be pinched off. This plant has tendril like aerial roots meaning they will be visible above the surface and can be fed into a moss pole. Temperature: fine to keep at normal room temperature, in the winter months make sure that the temperature remains above 10°C Pets: this plant is toxic to cats and dogs.
